Course Dissertation 1 – CREATING A HPO - HIGH PERFORMING ORGANISATION

This exercise is one of a number of core pieces of work you will be asked to complete during the course. You are free to approach and complete this task in the best way you see fit.

My advice is to complete this exercise as you progress each module of the course and hand it in at the very end. Its a live piece of work so please remember your outcome is to be able to take this piece of work and implement the actions found in the pages and change the face of your business for ever. If all goes to plan you will be launching your own HPO model within the boundaries of your area of business responsibility and upscale the results of your people, teams and overall business performance.

Of course we cannot overlook your own improved performance as a result of completing this course and the 20% in increased productivity you alone will create after acquiring your new skills and focus

The Task

Please write a dissertation consisting of no less than 10000 words entitled:

THE HPO MODEL, what it is, what it means, how I am going to apply it within my current areas of responsibility and the forecasted results I expect to see in the 3,6,9 and 12 months post implementation.

Please make sure you include the following.


  1. The importance of launching the HPO model within your business and understand the impact it will have on yourself, your team, staff, individuals, your customers, stakeholders, business partners and shareholders.
  2. What constitutes an HPO
  3. What are the common characteristics of an HPO
  4. My own individual actions.
  5. 10 benefits of the HPO model
  6. How to create a meritocracy
  7. The importance of healthy staff
  8. Creating a well being at work strategy to balance attrition, help reduce staff stress, bridge the communication gap between staff and senior management, improve staff morale, increase staff productivity, reduce staff risk of long term illness. Reduce staff sick days to within an acceptable standard.
  9. Implement and champion Personal Growth plans in the business and understand and state the importance of personal growth and staff development. Be specific around implementation actions and include timescales and anticipated growth.
  10. NLP and its role today in the workplace coaching arena. The review needs to include the different types of workplace coaching, group and 121, the difference between personal development plans and staff improvement plans and when to apply either or. The impact of a personal development culture in the workplace, what that may look like and the purpose they serve. Please include at least 5 different workplace coaching models and how they work and how to apply them.

Learning outcomes for your dissertation:

  • Understand the importance of launching the HPO model within your business and understand the impact it will have on yourself, your team, staff, individuals, your customers, stakeholders, business partners and shareholders.
  • Evaluate the purpose of workplace coaching
  • List 10 benefits of workplace coaching.
  • Explain the different types of personal workplace coaching, their relationship with emotional resilience and physical health.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of what is available in the form of life coaching to staff privately and suggestions you may make to employees to help them with applying new skills outside of work to help them personally with work, home life balance.
  • Be able to demonstrate comparisons between NLP and life coaching services compared to other comparable services available today in the UK and how they may help employee personal wellbeing.
  • Understand how to spot employee stress at work and be able to coach your employee listing positive suggestions and actions employees can take both in and out of the workplace.
  • List the different types of personal stress, how this can impact the employee at work and interventions you can use to support your staff inside and outside the workplace.
