You will now have an understanding of what life coaching is, how it originated and how to apply the presuppositions of NLP in your everyday life. You will also have completed the full life coaching model on yourself and understood the NLP methodology and noted some interesting changes and conclusions.
In this part we are going to look at the trail of techniques as described by Richard Bandler and John Grinder which are found at the centre of the Life Coaching Model.
As you progress through this part, we would like you to adopt the EDIC coaching principle: EXPLAIN, DEMONSTRATE, IMITATE, CONSOLIDATE.
You will be able to read a full explanation of the technique then watch a video demonstrating it. Underneath you will see an example of a script.
We suggest you take a structured approach with the EDIC coaching model.
Step 1 – Read all about the technique from your manual and study the script provided in your handouts. Make notes that confirm in your mind how this technique works and why it is effective. Keep an eye out for the introduction and summary on each skill set video as we explain each technique in full.
Step 2 – Watch the video whilst making notes, noticing how long the technique takes to complete and points that interest you.
Step 3 – Watch the video at least 5 times before deciding to practise yourself.
Step 4 – Using your notes, scripts and handouts, write the technique out in full in a format you understand and feel confident with.
Step 5 – Practise the technique on selected members of your family and friends. Please do this safely and we strongly suggest no driving within an hour of undergoing role plays.

There are many strategies, tools and techniques contained within the life coach's repertoire of skill sets. The really interesting fact about NLP techniques is when you break them all down, they all work in exactly the same way but just with different representational systems. (VAKOG)
This is done, in a nutshell, by changing one's relationship with the problem at an unconscious level, breaking all connections with the said fear, phobia or bad memory. By doing this you can change the way your coachee thinks and feels about past events, fears and phobias.
